Charlotte House Exhibitions – Meet the Artists

We're proud to have a carefully curated exhibition that spreads throughout the hotel and displays original artworks from over 30 local artists.

Our current exhibition brings together a collection of works by some of Lincolnshire's most inspiring artists, offering guests and visitors to the hotel the opportunity to discover and enjoy the artwork throughout their visit.

Meet the Artists

Carol Visser – Photographer

Carol's street portraiture collection, 'Faces with Character', is born from connection. She explains how her images 'reflect the trust' she builds with her subjects, "many of whom are older individuals and people living on the streets". 

Emma Chippendale – Multidisciplinary Artist & Designer

Emma was commissioned by the hotel to breathe new life into some of our spaces. Her designs include a dramatic art-deco inspired entrance, delicate sunlit corridor with hand-painted artworks and elegant stairwells.

Sylvie Gay – Interior Designer & Project Manager

Sylvie has over 20 years' experience and specialises in residential, commercial, hospitality and retail design. Sylvie's mission is to revive vintage furniture, making it relevant and attractive to a younger generation while promoting sustainability.

Matt D Wright – Architectural Illustrator

Matt works traditionally with pen and paper, his practice is rooted in observation, patience and appreciation for the built environment's quieter details. He describes how his drawings are meditative studies of buildings we offer pass.

Lucy McElroy – Figure Painting & Portraiture

Lucy combines a lifelong fascination with historical fashion and decorative details with formal portrait commissions. Lucy's current series, De La Lune, explores female archetypes drawn from early twentieth-century cinema & photography.

Rachael Audrey Clark – Multidisciplinary Artist & Designe

Over the past two years, Rachael has embraced mosaic art, exploring themes of imperfection, healing, and self-expression. Rachael also actively supports the local arts community through workshops & volunteering.  

Paul Griffith's – Acrylic Paintings 

While primarily working with acrylics, Paul also enjoys experimenting with different painting techniques and styles. Many of Paul's subjects are places of personal significance, for example a Hampshire pub where his father bought him his first pint. 

Jennifer Crummack – Multidisciplinary Artist 

Jennifer's work is inspired by the natural world that surrounds her, creating from her home studio in South Lincolnshire, she draws on the changing landscape, colours, textures and forms found in nature.  

Ana Ortiz – Fine Art 

Ana's work is deeply inspired by the stunning coastline of Galicia, a region in northern Spain. The vibrant colours and fluid motion of the underwater world, illuminated by sunlight, serve as the central inspiration behind her work.  

Penelope Toone – Watercolour & Acrylic Paintings 

Penny values a fluid, intuitive approach that allows each artwork to evolve organically. Starting as drawings, Penny's work progresses through carefully selected motifs and stencils to create layered compositions using acrylic spray paint. 

Anne Mayes – Abstract Artist 

Anne's work focuses on colour, texture and expressive mark-making. Working primarily on large canvases, she combines acrylics with mixed media including ink, charcoal, pastel, sant and dried flowers to created richly layered compositions.  

Roy Shapiro Art – Paintings & Drawings 

Roy's practice has been recognised through a range of prestigious exhibition opportunities, including the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition in London, reflecting an active and evolving fine art practice with a strong professional grounding. 

Red Fox Art – Land & Townscapes 

The practice of DJ Gouldsboroguh, a Lincolnshire-based artist; his work is defined by a strong appreciation of light and colour, pushing tonal and chromatic boundaries to create vivid, energetic compositions.  

Stephen James Cole – Fine Art  

Stephen is an independent artist based in Lincoln. His creative foundation is deeply rooted in his early experiences working in shipyards and in recent years, this has evolved into a love for the Galician coastline in Northern Spain.  

James Sutton: Cosmic_j – Organic & Digital Artist 

Working primarily in organic media, including pencil and ink, James' practice is inspired by the natural world as well as ideas that extend beyond it, exploring atmosphere, form and imagination through expressive drawing.  

Sue Helyard- Paintings & Wire Sculptures 

Sue creates art a celebration of life's vibrancy, focusing on the beauty and positivity found in the world around her. Her work aims to bring viewers a snese of joy, offering a momentary escape from everyday life.  

Philip Clarke – Hand-Drawn Geometric & Hard-Edged Compositions 

Known as 'alphabeticdoodles', Philip's practice is rooted in precision and structure, drawing on architectural design principles alongside the use of alphabetic stencils to construct carefully balanced visual forms.  

Eve Marshall – Artisan Felter 

Eve is an artist whose work is built up through more than 50 layers of colour and texture, creating richly detailed pieces that invite viewers to become immered and 'lost' within the surface.  

Debra Baker – House, Bird & Wildlife Art 

Inspired from living in the countryside with a deep love of UK wildlife, Debra creates small, intricately detailed works inspired by the natural world, alongside occasional architectural commissions.  

Charlotte Kessler – Painter & Trainee Art Therapist 

Charlotte's practice is rooted in the cathartic and transformative power of creative expression. She is drawn to the healing relationship between expressive arts and nature, with her work exploring connection, perception and belonging.  

Mel Langton – Designer & Illustrator 

Mel creates vibrant original artwork, empowering bespoke portraits, colourful custom illustrations and unique surface patten designs, using both traditional and digital techniques.

Emma's practice is rooted in nature and driven by a passion for creating expressive, organic works that bring spaces to life. From large-scale installations and bespoke murals to intimate feature walls.  

Charlotte Sievwright – Multidisciplinary Artist 

Interested in the relationship between creativity, emotional wellbeing, and personal growth, Sievwright enjoys exploring a variety of mediums, techniques, and subjects, often drawing inspiration from natural forms and organic textures.  

Amber Jesson – Visual Artist 

Adopting the reflective nature of walking as a restorative practice and a journey to self-discovery, Amber's practice explores transformation, our origins, feminine power and the traces in white we leave behind.  

Helen Clarke – Pastel Artist 

Specialising is soft pastel, Helen creates detailed yet expressive portraits in a style often described as painterly realism. Her work focuses on the beauty and fragility of native and endangered British species. 

Sharon: Sycamore Art – Mixed Media Artist 

Through sketching and painting, Sycamore captures colour, atmosphere, and a sense of place, translating personal experiences into engaging visual narratives. Her work celebrates both distant landscapes and everyday discoveries.  

Annie-Mae – Acrylic & Mixed Media Artist 

Through the use of collage, colour and texture, Mae creates pieces that are warms, personal and engaging. Her art invites viewers to pause and appreciate the significance of ordinary experiences.  

Radost Dimitrova – Watercolour Artists 

Radost's work is inspired by wildlife, folklore, and human emotion. Through the expressive and fluid qualities of watercolour, she creates paintings that combine natural elements with a strong sense of atmosphere and storytelling.  

Kay Harness – Acrylic Paintings 

Colour lies at the heart of Kay's creative process, guiding the development of her work. With an open and reflective approach, her work is inspired by the colours and character of the Lincolnshire landscape and countryside.  

Lisa Tank – Multidisciplinary Artist 

Lisa's practice is diverse, embracing a wide range of materials, mediums, techniques and styles, though she is known most at home from working abstractly; creating small-scale works with powerful visual impact.  

Paul Miller – Mixed Media Artist 

Paul's work is deeply inspired by the landscape and the experience of being immersed in the natural world. Through shape, movement, colour, texture, and pattern, he responds to changing light, seasons and the atmosphere of the outdoors.
